Morrison adds even those who don’t have an opponent are spending a lot of money on the campaign.

All 177 legislative seats are up for grabs. Morrison says labor unions, caucuses, corporations, and private donors have all contributed to the races. The senate race in the 48th district, which includes Springfield, has raised nearly two and a half million bucks. The highest in the House was in northern Illinois’ District 52, where the candidates raised about 1.7 million dollars.. That doesn’t include money that spent on ads, paid for by Super Pacs’s.
