Gill Won't Concede

Democrat David Gill says the numbers in his hotly contested U.S. House race are too close for him to concede

The Associated Press declared Republican Rodney Davis the winner in the 13th District. With nearly all precincts reporting the Republican had more than a 5,100-vote lead.

A Gill spokeswoman says they're waiting for all the numbers to come in. He initially faced longtime Republican Rep. Tim Johnson of Urbana. But just weeks after an easy primary win in the new district Johnson abruptly announced that he wouldn't seek re-election.

Republicans chose Davis to fill the place on the ballot.

Davis was a member of Rep. John Shimkus' staff and lives in Taylorville.

Gill is a Bloomington physician who challenged Johnson in past elections.
