Clinton High School Planning Day of Activities To Honor Veterans; Updating Wall of Valor

Clinton schools students will spend the day Friday honoring the Veterans of the community.

One of the big things they have going on is honoring the veterans through the high school's 'Wall of Valor'. Principal of Clinton High School Dr. Candice Swift says they are very excited about this. With the renovations that have gone on at the high school, they are moving the updated Wall of Valor to the sports entrance at the high school.

29 new photos of alumni who are Veterans will be placed on the wall. Dr. Swift explains with continued renovations to the area where the Wall of Valor was originally housed, it did not make much sense to keep it there. She feels putting it in a high traffic area, like the sports entrance, will get it and the veterans on it more much deserved attention.

Updating the Wall of Valor proved to be a challenging task. Dr. Swift explains it took quite an effort to obtain information about the veterans of Clinton High School alumni. Dr. Swift notes it took quite a community effort to get almost 30 new names and photos on the wall.

Dr. Swift encourages anyone with a veteran who attended Clinton High School that would like their name and picture put on the Wall of Valor to submit to them a picture of the person with their name, and they will add them to it.

The Veterans Day festivities at Clinton Schools includes a breakfast for veterans Friday morning, a keynote speaker at the Jr. High in the afternoon, and a reception for the Veterans at Clinton High School will take place to conclude the day.
