Lawmakers Announce Lame Duck Session

The Illinois House of Representatives will be in lame-duck session from January 3rd through the 8th.  Some lawmakers say this could be very bad news for the people across the state.  The 67-percent tax increase was passed during a lame-duck session back in 2011.  The extra cash from the tax hike was supposed to pay down the state's unpaid bills but Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka has said not much has been used for that purpose.  The state still owes billions of dollars in unpaid bills, which leads many to believe the tax hike won't expire at the end of 2014 as it's supposed to.
