Springfield To Conjure Up Lincoln Era Christmas

Ever wonder what Christmas felt like around the Lincoln household? Now's your chance to find out.

Springfield's second annual "An Historic Christmas!" will feature decorations from holidays past at Abraham Lincoln's home of 17 years and at half a dozen other historic sites in the city.

The event takes place for five hours on Saturday afternoon, Dec.15. It kicks off with a Christmas concert by Sound Celebration Chorus at the Lincoln Home Visitor Center.

The sites will also feature visits by Abraham and Mary Lincoln impersonators. Some will also offer period refreshments, including cider and gingerbread.

Among the other venues on the old-style Christmas tour are the Illinois Executive Mansion, the Pasfield House Inn and the Edwards Place Historic Home at the Springfield Art Association.
