Quinn's Prison Cuts Stand

Governor Pat Quinn's prison cuts will stand. The House failed to take up the governor's amendatory veto, which deleted money for Tamms, Dwight and other facilities out of the budget lawmakers approved. State Rep Raymond Poe is disappointed the governor took the money out in the first place.

The House left Springfield without voting to override Governor Quinn's veto that removed funding for Dwight and Tamms plus youth centers and halfway houses. Poe says this shows the governor isn't in tune with the people's wishes.

The Senate overrode the veto last week.
