Central Illinois Food Bank Moving

The Central Illinois Foodbank will soon have a new home. The group will move from its current location on East Moffatt Street, in Springfield, to the former Pepsi bottling plant on East Cook Street. Springfield Mayor Mike Houston says the Central Illinois Food Bank's move to a new facility is necessary, as the needs of central Illinois are changing.

Molitoris says the facility is more than double the size of its current location, and will provide three times the space for cold storage. They're in the midst of raising a million dollars to retrofit the building, and received 300-thousand dollars in donations from WalMart, Monsanto, and others yesterday. Pepsi Springfield donated the building to the foodbank. The move will be complete sometime in mid-2013.
