Heisman Trophy Announcement Saturday

The 78th Heisman Trophy will be handed out on Saturday in New York. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o [[ MAN-tye TAY-oh ]] are all up for the award. Manziel is trying to become the first freshman to win the Heisman. He has thrown for 3,419 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season, leading Texas A&M to a 10-and-2 record and Cotton Bowl appearance. He has also rushed for 1,181 yards and 19 scores.

Klein, also a dual threat quarterback, has thrown for 2,490 yards, 15 TDs and seven picks while also running for 890 yards and 22 scores. He has the 11-and-1 Wildcats in the Fiesta Bowl against Oregon. Te'o racked up 101 tackles and seven interceptions for the 12-and-0 and top-ranked Fighting Irish, who will play Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game. Te'o is trying to become just the second defensive player ever to win the award. Michigan wide receiver/cornerback Charles Woodson won the Heisman in 1997. Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin the Third won the Heisman in 2011.
