Congressman Johnson Will Teach, Work With Law Firm

Retiring U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson says he'll work for an Illinois law firm when he leaves Congress in January and teach at Illinois State University.

Johnson dropped his re-election bid just weeks after an easy primary win earlier this year. The six-term Republican Congressman said he wanted to devote more time to his nine children and more than a dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Johnson announced Monday that he would work for the law offices of Frederick Nessler. The firm is headquartered in Springfield with offices across Illinois. It specializes in personal injury, workers compensation, wrongful death, medical malpractice and Social Security Disability cases.

Johnson also says he will be a part-time instructor at Illinois State, teaching the course "Congress and War."
