Clinton Board of Education Discussing Specifics of New Elementary School

Over the past several months, the Clinton Board of Education has held several special meetings.

Superintendent of Clinton Schools Dr. Jeff Holmes says those work sessions are designed to look at very specific aspects of the new elementary school and to discuss with the Board what they want to see happen. Dr. Holmes notes these are very specific items of the new building.

These specific items include floor tiles, lock systems, and bricks on the outside amongst numerous other things. Dr. Holmes feels the School Board should be the ones to make these decisions with the ideas of the community in mind, rather than the architects.

The Board of Education has a target of going out for bid on the new building in early January. Dr. Holmes explains the unique part about the way they will be going out for bid will be to ask for a bid for each aspect of the building. He notes this will allow them to get better bids and maybe reduce the price of the project as a whole.

Dr. Holmes says because the building will be an elementary school, they are focusing on ways to make the new school colorful and stand out.

The Board of Education will hold a special work session this afternoon at 4 pm at the Clinton Jr. High School.
