Corn Marketing Board Donates To Children's Museum

The Illinois Corn Marketing Board is donating $20,000 to a proposed children's museum in Springfield for an exhibit on how corn gets from the farm to consumers.

The marketing board announced the gift Monday to the Kidzeum of Health and Science. Organizers are planning a museum in Springfield's downtown tourist district. They've raised nearly $4 million so far.

The Bloomington-based Corn Marketing Board is made up of 15 farmers elected by their peers to increase the profitability of corn by creating markets for corn and corn products.

The "Farm to Market" gallery at the Kidzeum will show how a seed grows into a plant and is harvested and used for sweet corn for human consumption, feed corn for livestock, corn syrup and ethanol.
