Dickey Reaches Extension With Toronto To Finalize Trade

The trade of pitcher R.A. Dickey from the New York Mets to the Toronto Blue Jays is official.  The deal for the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner was pending an extension, which was completed on Monday.  FoxSports.com reported earlier Monday that Dickey agreed to a two-year, 25-million-dollar extension with Toronto.  The deal also includes a 12-million-dollar team option for 2016.  The 38-year-old knuckleballer went 20-and-6 with a 2.73 ERA last season with the Mets.  Along with Dickey, the Mets sent catchers Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas to Toronto in exchange for highly touted catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud, catcher John Buck, top pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard and minor league outfielder Wuilmer Becerra.
