Butler University president James Danko raised eyebrows on Monday after a statement about the school's role in a possible conference realignment. Danko said the university has "controlled its destiny proactively," when speaking on the recent move from the Horizon League to the Atlantic 10. Butler is among many schools that have been rumored to join a new conference which would include the seven Catholic colleges that recently announced they will leave the Big East. Xavier, Saint Louis, Dayton, St. Joseph's, Richmond, Creighton, Gonzaga and St. Mary's have also been cited as possible candidates for the new potential league.
