Clinton Board of Education Sets 2013-14 School Calendar

The Clinton Board of Education has approved the 2013-14 school calendar.

Next year sees some minor adjustments throughout the year. State law, beginning next year, requires schools to have a full day of school the first and last day of the year. Superintendent of Clinton Schools, Dr. Jeff Holmes explains the first day of school will be August 16 and the final day would be May 23.

Something new the district did this year in relation to their mid-way point of the first semester, was have parent-teacher conferences. Dr. Holmes says that has received high praises, and he says they will do that again next year.

Homecoming Weekend for the 2013-14 school year will be September 16-21, the weekend prior to the Apple and Pork Festival.

Christmas break next year will be a full two weeks, starting Friday, December 20 and students will return for the 2nd semester on January 6. Spring break next year will be March 24-28. Graduation will continue to be the Sunday of the Memorial Day Weekend.

Next year will also be the final year the Illinois State Acheivement Tests, ISATs, will be given.

Depending on snow days, or emergency days, the district would dismiss for the year sometime between May 23 and June 2.
