Bears Put Bush On IR; Jets Drama

>>Bears' Bush Placed On IR

The Chicago Bears have placed running back Michael Bush on season-ending injured reserve because of a rib injury and signed Kahlil Bell to take his place.

Losing Bush is another blow for the struggling Bears. They've dropped 5 of 6 after a 7-1 start and are coming off a loss to Green Bay that clinched the NFC North for the Packers.

Chicago needs help to make the playoffs after leading the division for much of the season, and losing Bush does not make things any easier.

Signed to a 4-year deal to give the Bears depth in the backfield with Matt Forte, Bush appeared in 13 games and ran for 411 yards and five touchdowns. Bell was waived by Chicago in October.

>>Ryan Benching Sanchez For McElroy

(Florham Park, NJ) -- The New York Jets will start a different quarterback this Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, but it won't be Tim Tebow. Head coach Rex Ryan is benching the ineffective Mark Sanchez and will instead give third-stringer Greg McElroy his first career start. Sanchez was intercepted four times and also lost a fumble in the Jets' 14-10 loss at Tennessee Monday night. Tebow has been used sparingly this season in a variety of roles. McElroy came off the bench in Week 13 to lead the Jets to a 7-6 comeback win over Arizona in his only action this year.

>>Report: Tebow To Ask For Trade Or Be Released

(New York, NY) -- Tim Tebow's stay with the New York Jets could be short lived. "The Daily News" reports that Tebow will request to be traded or released in the offseason if Greg McElroy starts New York's final two regular season games. On Tuesday, McElroy was named the starter for this week's game at home against San Diego after head coach Rex Ryan decided to bench Mark Sanchez. McElroy had been inactive the past two weeks after seeing game action in the Jets win over the Cardinals. Tebow has been the back-up quarterback in New York's games against the Jaguars and Titans. In Monday's loss in Tennessee, Tebow played a full series for the first time this season. The Jets have been eliminated from the playoffs with a 6-and-8 record.
