Congressman-Elect Davis Looks Forward To Tackling Issues Important To Illinois

Congressman-elect Rodney Davis will be sworn in as the Republican Representative replacing Tim Johnson in the US House of Representatives.

Part of serving in Congress is serving on various sub-committees and Davis asked to be placed on the Transportation and Agriculture committees, and that request was granted. Davis says he looks forward to continuing many of the things Rep. Johnson did and hopes to represent the people of Central Illinois well on those committees.

As for his service on the Ag Committee, Davis calls it a dereliction of duties by both republicans and democrats that no Farm Bill has been established. No matter the outcome of the current farm bill, whether it is a short term extension or no extension, Davis says both parties need to get to work to establish a stable, long term farm bill.

Much like the Farm Bill or other issues facing the country, Davis says Congress has kicked a transportation bill down the road to be dealt with later. He feels this needs to end because the infrastructure of America is crumbling, and roads and bridges need to be rebuilt. He feels this starts by re-prioritizing the bill.

Davis says he looks forward to working with lawmakers on both sides of the isle to get things in Agriculture and transportation moving forward. He hopes to take the ideas of farmers back to Washington and put them into action in a Farm Bill. As a member of the Transportation Committee, he says he looks forward to getting into the details of how to make Illinois a much more hospitable state when it comes to infrastructure and infrastructure improvements.
