3 Authors, 3 Views of History at Illinois Museum in Jan.

Three noted authors with differing views on Civil War-era and other American history will discuss their new books at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

The events are free but reservations must be made in advance. Authors will sign books at 6:30 p.m. and speak in the Union Theater at 7 p.m.

Bruce Levine of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will talk about his book, "The Fall of the House of Dixie" on Jan. 9. The book uses original sources to review the collapse of antebellum Southern culture.

Michael Lind will appear Jan. 16. The co-founder of the New America Foundation is author of "Land of Promise."

Journalist David Von Drehle will speak on his book "Rise to Greatness" on Jan. 17.
