Habitat For Humanity Seeking New Board Members

One local group aimed at helping families in the community is looking for new board members.

The DeWitt County chapter of Habitat for Humanity is seeking Board Members to help them in their decision making and service projects. Board member for Habitat, Norman Emery, says they are looking for at least three new members. The board is at nine members and their charter requires twelve.

There are several qualities they are looking for in a potential board member as well as time requirements. Emery explains they are seeking members from just about any industry, as their work skills will come in very handy in serving with Habitat.

There are a number of issues and topics discussed at each Habitat for Humanity board meeting. He says they discuss anything from applicants for housing, fundraising, and sites for their next home.

Being a Board member for Habitat for Humanity can require as little as two hours a month. While Habitat prefers their Board members to help out in the building of their new homes, that is not necessarily a requirement.

For anyone interested in joining the board, you can call Habitat for Humanity at 217-935-4663. You can also stop by their next board meeting on Tuesday, January 8 at 6:30 at the Habitat building on Washington Street in Clinton.
