Clinton Y Looking Towards 2013

As we wind down the year 2012, one local organization is looking ahead to 2013.

width=The Clinton YMCA has some goals for the upcoming year, and one of those is a new aquatic wall for their swimming pool. Jann Martin, Executive Director of the Clinton YMCA says an aquatic climbing wall would allow kids to climb up it and when the reach the end or fall off, they land in the water.

The wall would sit on the wall of the deep end, and the kids would start to climb up from the deep end. Martin says her goal is to have it by January. She notes it is not permanent nor does it take long to bring down or put up.

Safety will not be an issue on the aquatic wall. Martin explains only two kids could climb at a time, but it would supervised much like a water slide, where two kids would get to take their turn, and a life guard would signal for two more to start.

Martin says aquatic climbing walls like the one they have picked out are not common around the area, and she feels it would be a great asset, not just for the kids of the Y, but for some of the seniors as well. She notes there are some active seniors that use the Y for their exercise.
