The deadline to make the switch to direct deposit for Social Security is quickly approaching.

Jack Myers, with Social Security, says that all existing beneficiaries will have to make the switch from paper checks to direct deposit on March 1st, 2013. He says that they are still sending out quite a few paper checks out as of late.

Myers says that this switch will be a great benefit for multiple reasons. He says it will save the government money on checks. It will also save a trip to the bank for beneficiaries who have a hard time getting out. The switch will also be much safer for those used to receiving checks through the mail.
