Chicago Records First Homicide

A 20-year-old Chicago man is apparently the city's first homicide victim of 2013.

Police say Octavius Dontrell Lamb was shot in the throat shortly before 4 a.m. on the city's West Side on Tuesday, and was pronounced dead at 4:16 a.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Police say no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Lamb's death comes after Chicago recorded 506 homicide, the first time since the total topped 500 since 2008 and the second time since 2003.
