Heyworth Schools Looking Into Engagement As Part of Future Goals

A first year school leader in one local district is seeking to make the future goals of the schools' as transparent to the community as possible.

Heyworth's first year superintendent, Dr. Ty Wolfe explains to accomplish this, they are going to engage the community through a series of community engagement meetings. He says they have identified five goals they want to focus on, and he hopes the community can provide input on how to best achieve those goals.

Dr. Wolfe feels this will build trust and confidence within the community. He says he has worked with Heyworth Mayor Larry Mowery on what is good for both the community and the schools. He says they are trying to build on the schools benefiting the community, and the community benefiting the schools.

The goal for Dr. Wolfe in getting this process started, they will start with the internal groups of the schools and branch out from there. He says they will start with groups such as the various booster clubs, then move out to parents of students, and he hopes then by the fall season they will be to a point of engaging the community and its’ groups as a whole.

Dr. Wolfe says school improvement is not a destination, but rather a journey. He says this engagement process will start with short one year goals and then it will branch out to longer term goals. He say they will continue to revisit their goals as time continues to pass.
