Syngenta Site Manager for DeWitt County, Nelson Thorpe is calling it a career. Over almost three decades, Thorpe has watched a family business turn into one of the primary research sites for seeds in North America. Syngenta recently announced and broke ground on expansion to make the DeWitt County site North America's largest corn and soybean research facility. Thorpe said has the years have passed, he had hoped the site could become what it is and what the future still holds.

His predecessor will be Tyson Walters who hails from the Delevan area. Thorpe feels good about his replacement, as Walters was hired by Thorpe when the company was still Thorpe Seed in 2003.

Including his time with Thorpe Seed, which was then purchased by Syngenta, and Thorpe has been in the seed business for over 30 years.
