DeWitt County Habitat For Humanity Continuing To Work On Clay Street Home

In September of last year, the DeWitt County Habitat for Humanity Chapter moved a home from West White Street in Clinton across the city to Clay Street.

Nearly four months later, the process of readying that home to allow a family to move in is still ongoing. Norman Emery, with the DeWitt County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity explains the home was donated by the Dr. John Warner Hospital to Habitat and he says it took a lot of coordinating efforts to get the home moved.

Emery says a lot of work has gone in since the house was moved to the Clay Street location. A lot of work was needed to the outside of the home, including an addition. He says a lot of that work has been completed, and they are now inside the home putting the finishing touches on. The target completion was for around Christmas, but it is looking like the end of this month is more likely.

As the home progresses towards completion, the DeWitt County Habitat for Humanity Chapter is seeking help from the community. Emery says they do not have a lot of workers, so any little bit of time, skills, or equipment someone can donate is very helpful.

To find out how you can contribute to the completion of the home, you can contact the DeWitt County Habitat for Humanity Chapter at 935-4663 or visit their Re-Store at 401 East Washington Street in Clinton.
