Three Lawmakers Facing Felony Charges

Three Chicago lawmakers being sworn in today are facing federal charges.  Derrick Smith is charged with bribery for allegedly promising to secure a state grant for a daycare in exchange for seven grand.  He was kicked out of the House for the charge but won his seat back in the November election.  Representative LaShawn Ford allegedly misused money from a loan.  He was supposed to spend the cash on rental properties.  Instead, he allegedly paid for a car and one of his campaigns.  And Senator Donne Trotter is facing a felony charge for trying to get a gun through a security checkpoint at O'Hare airport.  He says he forgot the .25-caliber handgun was in his luggage.
