Davidsmeyer says giving people the right to carry guns in public is a good deterrent for criminals. He says it's about time the Legislature put a law in place.

Davidsmeyer says it's time lawmakers moved forward with giving people their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. Illinois is the only state in the nation that doesn't have some form of concealed carry on the books, but the courts say that's unconstitutional. It ordered lawmakers to pass a law by June but Attorney General Lisa Madigan wants them to reconsider their ruling.
