Children's Advocacy Center Reports Busy, Productive 2012

2012 was a busy year and productive year for many organizations, The Children's Advocacy Center was one in particular.

Judy Brucker, with the center, says it was responsible for 369 child forensic interviews in cases involving alleged sexual and physical abuse througout the calendar year. She says that is a large amount for just one year, but there were also several positive happenings as well.

Brucker says that one of the events that stands out to her from 2012 was the Blue Kid Trees from the holiday season. There were 30 locations throughout Livingston, McLean and DeWitt counties and Brucker says that she was very pleased with the response to the trees.

Brucker says that while she thinks people are generous all year long with their giving, there certainly is always an upswing during the holiday season. Another great aspect of 2012 for the center was their annual Fall Training. This training is geared toward the center's professional partners which trains adults to investigate situation in which they feel children are being abused. There was also a new project called the "Darkness to Light" Program.
