>>Mariners Acquire Morse In Three Team Trade

(Seattle, WA) -- The Seattle Mariners have upgraded the middle of their lineup. The M's have acquired slugger Mike Morse from the Washington Nationals in a three-team trade that also includes the Oakland Athletics. Morse hit 18 home runs last year despite playing only 102 games. The first baseman/outfielder smacked 31 with 95 RBI in 2011. Morse was with the Mariners from 2004-2008 before moving onto Washington. The Nats picked up three prospects from the A's, while Oakland nabbed catcher John Jaso [[ JAY-soh ]] from Seattle. The lefty catcher hit .276 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI in 294 at-bats in 2012. Right-handed pitcher A.J. Cole, who Washington dealt to Oakland in the Gio Gonzalez trade, returns to the Nationals. The other two prospects are pitcher Blake Treinen and a player to be named later.

>>A-Rod Recovering After Hip Surgery

(New York, NY) -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is recovering from hip surgery. "A-Rod" had a two-hour procedure Wednesday to repair a torn labrum and impingement in his left hip. The team issued a statement saying the surgery went as planned and without complication. Recovery time is estimated at six months. Rodriguez is expected to be discharged from the hospital today and begin supervised rehabilitation. The Yankees signed Kevin Youkilis [[ YOO-kih-liss ]] this offseason to help fill in at third base while "A-Rod" is sidelined.

>>USA WBC Roster To Be Announced Today

(Undated) -- Team USA's roster for the World Baseball Classic will be released today at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. Manager Joe Torre will add insight to his team on MLB Network. The Americans are in the Arizona bracket with Mexico, Canada and Italy.
