A central Illinois woman has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor reckless conduct charge filed after her husband drank wine poisoned with soap.

Reports indicate 39-year-old Brandis R. Paige pleaded guilty Thursday in Coles County Circuit Court in Charleston. She was sentenced to a year of supervised discharge.

Court records indicate Paige has addresses in both Mattoon and Effingham. An Effingham phone listed in her name and called by The Associated Press was not answered Thursday or set up to take messages.

Paige was initially charged with felony aggravated battery after her husband, Douglas Paige, drank wine poisoned with dish soap in October 2011 and became ill.

Brandis Paige pleaded guilty to the lesser charge under a deal with prosecutors.
