CHS To Recognize 2013 Wall of Honor Inductees Tonight

Each year, Clinton High School honors alumni who have gone on to do admirable things both locally and abroad.

Friday night at Clinton High School's home boys basketball game, for the 7th year, they will honor three alumni of Clinton High School who have accomplished great things. This year's inductees are Terry Milton, Michael Overy, and R. Wayne Whitehead, and Lynne Severson of Clinton High School says these three gentlement have distinguished themselves in various ways.

Anyone can be nominated for the Wall of Honor and Severson says each year, those that are not selected to the Wall of Honor have their nomination letters set aside to be considered in the future. Two to four selctions have been made each year since the Wall of Honor was started in 2006.

For the inductees, the evening starts with a welcome reception beginning at six o'clock, which is open to the public to welcome and celebrate them. At 6:30, Superintendent Dr. Jeff Holmes and CHS Principal Dr. Candice Swift will unveil the plaques on the wall outside the gym. Severson explains the inductees are then honored prior to the varsity boys basketball game around 7:15.

Past inductees onto the Wall of Honor include Terry Ijams, Don Prather, Ernest Thorp, John Hickman, Al Austin, Larry Gentry, Tyrone Byrd, Judge Stephan H. Peters, Tom Steward, and Myra Westray.

Clinton will play host to Meridian tonight around 7:30, the Wall of Honor ceremonies in the main gym will take place between the JV and Varsity basketball game. You can hear the game live on The Big 1520 AM/92.3 FM WHOW and online at dewittdailynews.com.
