UIC Professor Dick Simpson says Governor Pat Quinn could survive the 2014 Democratic primary, if there are too many opponents.

Simpson says Quinn could get a boost if the pension plan is able to be solved this session. He also says the governor could have an easier time surviving the primary if Madigan, ex-White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley and other candidates end up splitting the vote. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin told the "Chicago Sun-Times" earlier this week about Madigan's upcoming decision, saying she's "seriously thinking" about running.
