HRC Executive Director Striving For Continued Success In Programs

The DeWitt County Human Resource Center's new leader has spent her first month on the job familiarizing herself with the organizations ins and outs.

Lynn Scoville joined the HRC a little over a month ago and is excited about the services provided by their three sites. The main facility is their West facility, on Route 54, which provides mental health services. She explains those services are well utilized, but those in need do not have to wait long to join a program. The services primarily focus on substance abuse.

Their East facility, on Route 10, focuses on those with developmental or physical disabilities. It is called "Developmental Training". Scoville explains the programs help individuals with disabilities develop basic life skills, and gives them the opportunity to practice those skills at the Encore Thrift Store. The funds from Encore go right back into their programs.

The newest facility at the HRC is the Kleemann Village Apartment on Kleemann Drive. The focus of these apartments is to house those with chronic mental illness. According to Scoville, as a part of these apartments, the tenants can receive help with tasks that may be challenging for them such as balancing a check book, buying groceries, and things like that.

Scoville hopes for expansion of the apartments in the future, however, with the state fiscal crisis, she is focused on keeping all of their services stable at all three sites.

Scoville feels she has a great staff on hand and says they do great work with all the people that utilize their services.
