Both McCarthy and Durbin told reporters on Friday it was very important for the federal government to "do something" about guns to make America safer for families and law enforcement. Durbin also announced he'd be holding a hearing on the constitutional aspects of the 2nd Amendment. The Senate Judiciary Committee is also going to start hearings on gun violence this Wednesday.
