Illinois Congressman Pleased With New Tax Bill

As the clock struck midnight, the federal Government passed a tax bill that kept the country from going over the proverbial, fiscal cliff.

One local lawmaker is pleased they did that, and feels it might be a good thing, but he hopes to promote change when it comes to the Country's finances. Congressman Rodney Davis explains President Obama wanted the threshold for tax increases to go towards Americans making $250-thousand and above, however the tax that passed sets the threshold at $400-thousand. Davis feels that's going to benefit a lot of farmers and small business owners.

There will be a lot of things this upcoming year coming off the books in Washington. Davis points to sixteen years ago when President Bill Clinton took office as a similar situation America faces today. He explains President Clinton was able to bring lawmakers from both sides of the isle together and spur change that generated revenues and brought the country surpluses.

Davis says as a part of the new tax bill, President Obama has received the revenue he wanted, now he would like to see that revenue go towards paying down the nations trillions of dollars of debt, which should begin to grow the economy.
