Clinton Board of Education Forms Committee To Micro-Analyze Technology

As the Clinton School district continues to move closer towards a one-to-one computing initiative, there are many things administrators are preparing for in advance.

The Clinton Board of Education recently formed a committee to take a more micro look at the one-to-one computing initiative. Superintendent of Clinton Schools Dr. Jeff Holmes says this committee will work with the technology personnel of the district to make sure they are doing this "the right way".

Because iPads are so expensive, Dr. Holmes wants to make sure the iPads are being used the best ways possible. He says this committee they have formed will work to find the best ways to utilize the technology available to them.

School districts are beginning to prepare for a trend expected to put an end to hard copy textbooks. Dr. Holmes says this is not something imminent, but it is something they need to prepare for. He explains he has instructed his administrators to be looking for text books companies that are developing paper-less textbooks.

Dr. Holmes estimates they are still a year to a year and a half away from having an electronic device in the hands of every student. Last year the district's administrators had iPads to get used to them. This year the district has a select number of iPads in the schools, readying for the one-to-one computing initiative to launch.
