Report: Brewers' Braun Linked To Biogenesis Clinic Records

Former National League MVP Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers has reportedly been linked to the Miami-area clinic alleged to have distributed performance-enhancing drugs to several big league players. Yahoo! Sports reports Braun's name as well as the names of New York Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli and Baltimore Orioles third baseman Danny Valencia were included in the records of Biogenesis, a clinic run by Anthony Bosch. The "Miami New Times" reported last week that several players including Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez are among the top professional athletes on the list of clients at Biogenesis. Major League Baseball will investigate the link to Braun, who tested positive for illegal synthetic testosterone during the 2011 postseason but appealed the result and had it overturned.

Braun issued a statement on Tuesday, saying his link to Bosch came during research for his successful appeal of that drug test. Yahoo! Sports says three of the Biogenesis clinic records it obtained showed Braun's name on them. However, unlike players like A-Rod named in the "New Times" report last week, no specific substance is listed next to Braun, Cervelli or Valencia. The records Yahoo! Sports obtained match those released by the "New Times" last week that had Braun's name removed and Cervelli and Valencia's cut off.
