Nutrition Program To Be Presented in Dewitt and Piatt Counties

A new nutrition program is about to make it's way into DeWitt, Piatt and Macon counties.

Caitlin Huth, the Nutrition and Wellness Educator at the U of I Extension, is excited to get this new program off the ground. The title of the program is "Serve it Safely". Huth says that this class will help individuals or groups prepare food safely and cleanly. She mentions several groups that could benefit.

Huth adds that they have had great assistance from the various Health Departments of the three counties that she serves. Representatives from the Health Department also participate in the class to help students understand the guidelines for serving food to large amounts of people.

Huth mentions that there is a section of the class where she will present food preparation in the wrong way. This helps to see how much the students of the program know and how much they need to learn. Huth says that she's planning to bring the entire program to DeWitt and Piatt in the way she has to Macon County. She wants to reach as many communities as she can through the program.

The Dewitt County program will be February 20th from 9am-11:30am at the DeWitt County Office. The office is located at 8425 Katie Rd.

Huth recommends that those attending be pre-registered. You can be registered through both offices or go to web.extension.illinois.edu.
