Congressman Davis Looking Forward To Hearing President's State of the Union

Tonight President Barack Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union Address.

This will be the President's first State of the Union since his re-election in November. Illinois Republican Congressman Rodney Davis says he will be intently listening to the President's speech, hoping to hear his plans for economic growth.

Another topic Congressman Davis will be intently listening for will be how the President addresses gun control. The Congressman criticizes the way Vice-President Biden has used the committee that was formed to inadequately address the proper gun control reform. Davis believes there needs to be more emphasis on mental health issues, rather than gun control legislation.

Davis also expects the President to address jobs creation through tax increases. Davis has been critical of this plan in the past and continues to be critical of it now. He says Americans are already dealing tax increases that he says are "killing our economy".

Republicans have been very critical of the President over the past four years, and we may begin to see them become a little less pointed in their remarks. Davis says, on his end, his reaction will depend on what the President has to say.
