Red Cross' Newest Fundraiser Right Around Corner

The Mid-Illinois Chapter of the Red Cross is kicking off what they hope to be their signature fundraising event.

The Red Cross Ball and Diamond Affair will be the first of its kind for the Mid-Illinois Chapter. Carl Baker, Executive Director or the Red Cross, hopesthe event will be the major source of fundraising for years to come. He adds the funds raised will be staying local and helping those in our area who need it the most in times of need. Baker looks forward to a fun night that will encompass many areas for the enjoyment of their guests.

Another area of the Ball and Diamond Affair will be the Silent Auction. Baker explains there are several items that will be featured in the auction. A few of these will be sure to peak bidders' interest

The Ball and Diamond Affair will become the premiere fundraising event every year for the Red Cross. Baker says that they have decided to remove fundraising from a smaller event, the "Heartland Heroes". That event will now be able to retain the purposes in which they were intended, honoring local heroes.

The Red Cross Ball and Diamond Affair is this Saturday, February 23rd, at the County Club in Decatur, from 5:30pm-11:30pm. Cocktails and appetizers will be served starting at 5:30, then dinner will start at 6:30.
