Western Illinois Upsets Top-Ranked Razorbacks

Jameson Henning and Brent Turner had two hits and an RBI apiece to help lead Western Illinois to a 7-5 victory over Arkansas on Sunday.

The effort gave Western Illinois (1-2) the split in the 3-game series with the Razorbacks, the top choice in several polls heading into the season.

Mason Pingel (1-0) picked up the win for the Leathernecks. He pitched five innings and gave up three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Brian Loconsole got the save for 1.2 hitless innings.

Trent Daniel (0-1) took the loss, giving up six runs (three earned) on eight hits and striking out two in 3.1 innings.

Arkansas plays next on Tuesday when the Razorbacks face New Orleans. First pitch is 3:05 p.m.
