Costume Collection on Display in Central Illinois

Thirty pieces of Illinois State University's vast costume collection will be displayed at a central Illinois historic site next month.

A scholarship fundraising event will kick off the exhibit March 2 at the David Davis Mansion in Bloomington.

Students will explain the history and design details of the garments. Tickets are on sale at the Davis Mansion and various Bloomington businesses.

The exhibit will run through March 15.

The pieces are part of the university's Lois Jett Costume Collection that has more than 2,000 garments and accessories for men, women and children.

The collection is named after the faculty member that began gathering the items in 1962. Jett used the garments to teach students various aspects of the fashion industry including fiber types and construction techniques.
