Arizona Cardinals Reportedly Exploring Trade For Alex Smith

The Kansas City Chiefs may have competition if they are looking to trade for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith.  The "Arizona Republic" reports the Cardinals are exploring a trade for Smith, impressed by his experience, intelligence and talent.  CBS reported Sunday that a deal for Smith was effectively complete and just waiting for the start of the league year next month to become official.  The Chiefs have been reported to be the most logical destination for Smith.  It seems less likely that the 49ers would trade Smith to the division-rival Cardinals, but the emergence of Colin Kaepernick [[ CAP-er-nick ]] this past season makes Smith either expendable or an expensive backup on the bench.
