A child is dead after getting attacked by a dog.  Galesburg Police say the seven-year-old boy was playing in a yard when the dog attacked about 1:00 in the afternoon on Saturday.  Police say the boy was visiting the home on Whiting Avenue when the incident occurred.  Police were able to get the dog off the boy, but they had to shoot the animal when it turned toward them.  The boy was pronounced dead at Galesburg Cottage Hospital about 40 minutes later.  Officers aren't releasing much else about the attack, but say an investigation is underway.
