Quinn Vetoes Gambling Bill

Governor Quinn says no to new gambling in Illinois.  He vetoed a bill that would’ve allowed for five new casinos, plus slot machines at racetracks across the state.  He says the bill is flawed because it doesn’t have enough control on gaming lobbyists.  Quinn wants lawmakers to ban lobbyists from giving campaign contributions.  He says such a ban will keep corruption out of the gaming industry.  He also doesn’t like the idea of slots at racetracks, because families go there with their young kids.  Quinn says he isn’t opposed to more gaming, but urges lawmakers to work with him to come up with something more reasonable.
