Nominees Sought For Illinois Distinguished Seniors

The Illinois Department on Aging is seeking nominees for the 2014 Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame awards.

The annual award recognizes Illinoisans 65 and older who are outstanding in the categories of community service, education, performance or graphic arts and in the workforce.

Nominations must be postmarked or faxed by Aug. 22 to be included in the consideration for the awards. Nomination forms can be obtained at local Area Agencies on Aging or at the Illinois Department on Aging website.

Candidates can be current state resident or former residents who lived in Illinois most of their lives. Posthumous nominees are also considered. The Illinois Council on Aging will help determine the award winners.

Those chosen will be inducted into the hall of fame in October.
