Police say human remains found inside a shed in Rochester are those of a 43-year-old woman from Decatur.
According to reports, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Eric Hall says the woman found in the shed on July 19 was identified through dental records and other evidence. Rochester is just east of Springfield.
Hall would not release the woman's identity but said her family has been notified.
He said she was not on any lists of missing people. Authorities believe her death was a homicide because items in the shed were stacked on her.
Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards says the body was there for a long time. But she isn't sure how long or how she died.
The woman was found by someone cleaning out the shed.
