ISU Punt Returner Named To 'Punt Returner Watch List' For FCS Programs

width=Illinois State sophomore Anthony Warrum was named to the 2014 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Punt Returner Award Watch List, as announced by the CFPA on Thursday. The initial watch list includes 34 returning performers, vying for the top punt returner award in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Warrum played in all 11 games for the Redbirds in 2013 as a true freshman and served as the team's primary punt returner. The Fishers, Ind., native averaged 8.8 yards per return on 18 attempts and returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown just before halftime against Abilene Christian. Warrum became the first Redbird to return a punt for a touchdown since Tom Nelson achieved the feat in 2008.

He also added to the team's depth in the receiving corps, as he caught 12 passes for 342 yards, scored three touchdown and averaged a team-high 27 yards per catch. Warrum posted eight plays of over 20 yards or more on the year, including three over 50 yards (two receptions, one return), and hauled in a career-high 145 yards, including a season-long 62-yard touchdown reception, in a win over Indiana State.
