Former Chief Judge and Congressional challenger Ann Callis released the following statement in strong support of protecting the Mahomet Aquifer in the wake of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announcement yesterday that it will not proceed on a determination regarding Clinton Landfill’s application to accept potentially hazardous waste:

“I strongly support keeping Central Illinois’ only water source clean and safe for generations to come, and I am pleased that the EPA’s ruling moves us closer to ensuring the Mahomet Aquifer remains free from contamination. If I am honored to be elected, I will do everything within my power to protect this water source in our district, unlike my opponent, who continues to just pay lip service.”
