Notre Dame Investigating "Academic Dishonesty," No Players Dismissed

width=Notre Dame is withholding four starting football players from practice and games while university officials investigate suspected "academic dishonesty."  The school is describing the situation as a potential "honor code violation."  Previous reports had the four players dismissed, but Notre Dame Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick says they remain enrolled, but cannot participate in football activities.  Wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, defensive back KeiVarae Russell, defensive lineman Ishaq Williams and linebacker Kendall Moore are suspected of cheating on papers.  Punishment could range from players failing assignments to dismissal from school.  Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson missed all of last season after allegedly cheating on an exam but returned this year to reclaim his starting role.  The Fighting Irish are ranked 17th in the preseason Coaches' Poll.  Notre Dame opens the season August 30th against Rice.
