Lincoln Art And Balloon Fest Opens With Full Friday

width=Perhaps the biggest event of the year takes place in Lincoln this weekend.

The annual Art and Balloon Festival gets underway Friday afternoon and organizers believe there is fun to be had by all, all weekend. Lincoln Mayor Keith Snyder says Friday, things get kicked off with a parade that will run through downtown and out to the Logan County airport. Then at the conclusion of the parade, things get going in downtown Lincoln and out at the airport.

32 balloons will highlight this year's collection of the annual draw for hundreds. Mayor Snyder explains at 6 pm each night, the balloons will ascend from the airport and this captivates people from the airport or bystanders at Lincoln Christian University to Interstate 55 that wraps around Lincoln's north and east side.

The Mayor (left) indicates the cooks for that competition will be getting set up for the Saturday judging and some will take part in a special competition for that evening.
